Don’t Count Yourself Out

📖 Key Scripture
Galatians 2:20 (NIV):“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”
📝 Devotional Thought
God reminded me of an event from a couple of weeks ago that felt irrelevant at the time. But He used it to reveal something important:
Many of us have already counted ourselves out of the life God wants for us.
We disqualify ourselves with thoughts like:
I’m not articulate enough.
I’m not tall enough.
I’m not smart enough.
I’m not qualified enough.
I’m not rich enough.
I’m not strong enough.
Before a door is even closed, we’ve shut it ourselves.
Our heart posture says, “It’s not mine. It can’t be mine. I am unworthy. I am undeserving. I’m not what they’re looking for.” And sometimes, even without saying a word, our thoughts and body language scream defeat.
But here’s my question for you: Who said that? When God has said otherwise, why are we still believing these lies?
When you're in Christ, it’s not just you anymore—it’s Christ living in you. And that changes everything.
🧩 Biblical Reflection: Moses
Moses did the same thing. In Exodus 3 and 4, we read how he tried to count himself out—again and again:
“Who am I to appear before Pharaoh?”
“What if they don’t believe me?”
“I’m not good with words.”
“Lord, please send someone else.”
Moses offered excuse after excuse, but God met every objection with reassurance. He reminded Moses that it wasn’t about his ability—but God’s presence and power.
We do the same. We offer God excuses, thinking they're valid, but they're rooted in fear and disbelief.
🧠 Application
Ask yourself:
Where in my life have I disqualified myself prematurely?
What excuses have I made to avoid stepping into God’s calling?
Am I trying to do it in my own strength, or have I truly partnered with God?
Today, stop counting yourself out.
If you could do it alone, it must not be God who has sent you. His assignments are often beyond your qualifications—so He can get the glory.
1 Corinthians 1:27 reminds us: "God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise... the weak things to shame the strong."
He doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called.
🙏 Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve counted myself out before You ever did. Help me to see myself the way You see me—called, chosen, and equipped by Your Spirit. I lay down every excuse, every fear, every “not enough,” and I choose to trust that You are more than enough through me. Thank You for living in me, working through me, and calling me higher. In Jesus’ name, amen.
📢 Final Thought
If this blessed you, please share it. We need more believers to rise up and walk boldly in the faith they proclaim.
You are not alone. You are not disqualified. Don’t count yourself out—God hasn’t.
This really blessed me in many ways. God bless you and Keep it coming!
Very true.
The path that says, "if you can do it alone, then, it's not God" caught my attention more.
This is good.
God met every objection of Moses with reassurances.
Wowwww. Such a good read. I’m blessed
